Crystorama Lighting Plays Major Role in 'For Your Home' Episode to Air April 6
Vicki Payne to Discuss How Traditional Fixtures Fit in With Contemporary Design

Breakfast Area
Westbury, N.Y. - The popular lifestyle show "For Your Home" will feature a variety of fashion-forward lighting fixtures from Crystorama Lighting in an episode set to air on PBS stations nationally on April 6.

The episode, themed "Light It Up," spotlights lighting applications in the second annual For Your Home Philanthropy House, a newly renovated Morrocroft home in Charlotte, N.C. Vicki Payne, the host and designer of "For Your Home," managed every detail of the renovation, turning the 30-year house into a stunning contemporary showplace.

The house was originally unveiled to a sold-out crowd on Oct. 9 in a gala event benefitting the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte. The gala raised more than $18,000 for the center in honor of Libby Jones, who lost her battle with leukemia in the spring of 2014.

As part of the FYH Philanthropy House's renovation, Payne selected nine lighting fixtures from Westbury, N.Y.-based Crystorama, many of which feature crystals as a central design element.

"Most would think a crystal chandelier would be all wrong in a contemporary setting," Vicki Payne wrote in a recent design column for the Charlotte Observer. "Not true. It depends on the metal finish and whether the fixture has lampshades. Even the type of bulbs you are using can swing a light into a different style group. While a brass-and-crystal chandelier may look out of date, the same fixture with a different finish - silver, polished nickel, black or stainless steel - can be dripping with crystals and still be extremely contemporary and even modern."

Dining Room

For the dining room of the FYH Philanthropy House, Payne chose two pieces from Crystorama's Allure collection- a sconce and a chandelier. A versatile, modern design with a touch of retro, Allure features a polished chrome frame draped with clear, hand-cut crystal swags and beading that appear to float. A geometric white drum shade provides the finishing touch.

In the kitchen/breakfast area, two pieces from Crystorama's Cameron collection, an Arts and Crafts-inspired design, are featured. The Cameron chandelier is an airy, barrel-shaped design in iron with a decorative glass ball at the bottom providing a touch of bling. The sconce - simple yet distinctive - makes a strong geometric statement with its series of graduated circles that mirror the shape of the backplate.
Broche, an elegant traditional design, appears in three areas of the house: in the master bedroom, there's an eye-catching chandelier; in the hall, a sconce; and in the entryway, a celling mount fixture. This design features a bronze sphere surrounded by a series of simple, wrought iron leaves hand painted and wrapped in a gold leaf or antique silver leaf finish.

In the powder room, a sconce from the Mirage collection provides an elegant transitional touch. In polished nickel, Mirage is a shapely chrome design with a cluster of cut crystal beads that capture and refract light. The crystals are built into the ring, creating a radiant look similar to that of a wedding band.

In the living room, two sconces from the Eva collection hang over the fireplace mantle, delivering a dash of drama with their rope-like strings of golden rock crystals and cut crystals. The sconces are finished in burnished silver, which mimics the look of silver foiled over gold, while an accent of jute provides an earthy touch - and an unexpected twist on traditional.

Powder Room
"We're very excited about the contribution our lighting makes to the success of this stylish house," said Ryan Ranzino, vice president of sales, who shares his insights on lighting trends in the upcoming "For Your Home" episode. "It's a reminder that when it comes to room design, you should never overlook the impact that lighting can have. The right light can transform a room and is just as important as other key elements that consumers often spend the bulk of their energies on, such as granite countertops."

Crystal chandeliers "are the chameleons of lighting," added Payne. "When you let your own personality shine through, your home will remain interesting and a true expression of your unique style."
