Crystorama Lighting Brings Midcentury Modern Settings to Life
Company’s Line Includes Range of Fashionable Fixtures Inspired by Popular Design Genre

Westbury, N.Y. - With consumer interest in Midcentury Modern furnishings continuing to grow, Crystorama Lighting is steadily expanding its selection of chandeliers, sconces and other lighting fixtures designed to complement and enhance room settings decorated in the highly popular style.

Thanks to high-visibility exposure on TV shows like "Mad Men” and frequent coverage in leading shelter magazines, interest in Midcentury Modern furnishings has enjoyed a major resurgence. Led by forward-thinking designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Arne Jacobsen and Isamu Noguchi, furniture of this period was designed with a "less is more” mindset. Just as it did back in the 1950s and ‘60s, the aesthetic seems to be providing enthusiasts with a counter-balance to the busy pace of daily life.

"Whether it’s taking a yoga class or cooking more natural foods, Americans are looking for ways to simplify and slow down,” said Brad Kleinberg, president of Crystorama Lighting.

"They are seeking refuge in less chaotic things and, for many, Midcentury Modern furnishings provide the perfect aesthetic for their home, which they want to be an oasis of calm. At their best, Midcentury Modern designs are fuss-free and functional, but also fashionable. It’s a no-frills approach to design that is clean, classic and enduring.”

Against this backdrop of minimalism and understated elegance, creative lighting fixtures can play a valuable role in bringing a room to life, according to Kleinberg. "Since Midcentury Modern designs tend to be sleek and simple, having the right fixture can make all the difference,” he said. "A stylish fixture provides a focal point that turns up the volume a notch. It adds a touch of drama that keeps the rest of the décor from getting boring or predictable while also tying everything together.”

To complement the growing amount of Midcentury Modern furniture being incorporated into current living settings, Crystorama has created a variety of innovative lighting fixtures. They include these three new models introduced at the January 2016 Lightovation show in Dallas:

Baxter - Sleek and sassy with a linear body structure, the Baxter Collection is the perfect mix of chic and minimalistic style. Elegant glass rod stems support each light, while the white drum shade adds a soft touch. Available in two popular finishes - polished nickel and a distressed bronze with gold highlights - the Baxter Collection is ideal for creating a clean, modern space.
Bleecker - Midcentury Modern glam at its finest, the Bleecker Collection starts with a streamlined, polished chrome metal frame, then drapes it with dozens of clear, frosted glass rods arranged in two tiers. A touch retro and a touch modern, the Bleecker Collection delivers a unique look that’s both current and timeless.

Dixon - Grandly geometric and magnificently masculine, the Dixon Collection in polished nickel has a distinct Midcentury Modern flavor. With 90-degree arms, classy crystal cubes and trendy rectangle shades, the Dixon Collection’s clean lines will transform any room.

In addition, Crystorama Lighting’s line includes four other collections with a strong Midcentury Modern influence:

Calypso - The best-selling Calypso Collection, a Midcentury Modern design with a touch of glam, has recently been expanded with three new pieces, including a ceiling mount fixture and a chandelier. Sleek and contemporary, this design pairs shiny chrome or bronze metal with cascading, clear blown glass balls and teardrops for a look of modern elegance.

Galaxy - Contemporary and retro, the Galaxy Collection takes inspiration from both the Art Deco period and the Space Age. A perfect conversation starter, Galaxy features a hard-edge, starburst shape softened by a two-tone Midnight Chrome finish. With its aeronautically inspired lines, Galaxy delivers a creatively fresh take on the Sputnik era.

Luna - Combining bold, spherical shapes with flat, sleek panels reminiscent of ribbon, the sophisticated Luna Collection has expanded its appeal even further with a new version in an on-trend matte white-and-antique gold finish. White provides a subtle beauty that frames and flatters Luna’s one-of-a-kind industrial modern design, giving it a completely new personality.

Palmer - The Palmer Collection provides a high-impact lighting solution for a wide range of room settings, including Midcentury Modern. Magnificently masculine, this design features circular bands with six lights on long pedestals topped by small globe bulbs with a single decorative crystal ball that hangs from the fixture’s bottom. In a polished nickel finish, Palmer is characterized by its sleek, uncomplicated charm.

Going forward, Crystorama Lighting expects to develop other unique fixtures inspired by the Midcentury Modern design period, says Ryan Ranzino, vice president of sales. "This trend shows no signs of fading,” he said. "As is so often true with fashion, what once was hot only at the high end has now entered the mainstream, where awareness and demand are still growing. It’s a timeless style that appeals to Baby Boomers and Millennials alike because it fits so well with today’s more relaxed living patterns.”
